Bo Snyder
Running for re-election to Portage School Board
Bo has been a Portage Public Schools trustee since 2009 and a member of the Portage Education Foundation Board since 2015. To these roles, he brings big-picture thinking and a focus on academic results. His focus is fostering a respectful environment for all students and preparing them for a successful future.
During Bo’s tenure, the Board responsibly navigated difficult issues raised by the pandemic; approved all-day kindergarten; kept West Middle School open when a proposal to close it was introduced; and found a path to replace or modernize PPS elementary buildings without increasing the property tax millage.
Bo and his wife, Jenny, have never regretted moving their family into the District 25 years ago. Their daughters have been well served by the exceptional education they received in Portage Schools. During those years, Bo volunteered with their school sports and music activities and served on the boards of Communities in Schools and the Kalamazoo Literacy Coalition. He is a member of Portage Rotary.
After nearly two decades in hospital administration at Bronson, Bo launched a consulting company to help healthcare leaders and physician groups improve strategy, patient relations and health system operations. After many years of spending too much time in airports, he has since retired.
Bo holds degrees in Business and Hospital Administration from the University of Michigan but somehow managed to marry an MSU alum. Their children held true to form: one went to college in Ann Arbor and the other in East Lansing.
