Mark Stevenson
Running for Election to Portage School Board
Mark is the father of three current PPS students, ages 7, 10 and 13. He is a Portage native, a PPS graduate, and now owns a small business within the District. Mark serves on the Portage Education Foundation board, and is also on the boards of the Kalamazoo Valley District Dental Society and its budget committee. He is running to make sure Portage Schools provide the best education for our children and continue to be an asset for our community.
After graduating from Portage Northern High School, Mark earned his BS and DDS degrees from the University of Michigan. His wife, Bethany, is a Portage Central alum. After graduation, they decided to return to Portage to open their dental practice and raise their family in the community. It is important to Mark and Bethany that their sons have the same educational opportunities they had growing up in Portage.
As a school board member, Mark will help make sure the board, administration, and PPS focus on students and how best to maximize their potential. He wants to help improve communication between the District and parents, and to support teachers as they work directly with our children. He believes it takes everyone to make Portage Public Schools a success.
